Fall Conferences will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2pm – 6pm and Thursday, October 5, 4pm – 7pm. Your students teacher will contact you to set up a time to meet.

School picture retakes will be done Tuesday, October 17th. This picture will be used for the yearbook, school ID and will be available for purchase. Pictures are taken at the beginning of the school day so make sure to be on time to school  and wear your best smile!

Our students have enough to carry around! Opportunities in the community will now be available via Virtual Backpack for Des Moines Public Schools. Before starting 7th grade in the fall, students must meet a new mandatory state vaccination requirement. Students without proof of a meningitis vaccination or an exemption will not be allowed to attend classes in the fall. As of Aug. 1, 43% of Hoyt students do not have the vaccination. Goodwill Industries of Central Iowa has honored Hoyt Middle School employee Randy Bakker as their Achiever of the Year. Randy was born with a condition called hydrocephalus which renders him functionally blind. After enrolling in a job skills training program at Goodwill he started working at Hoyt this year. The award is presented to someone who overcomes obstacles to employment. Click on the image for more.

Students from Hoyt and all of Des Moines Public Schools’ middle schools competed at the City-Wide Track & Field Meet on April 25. Beautiful weather and a big crowd of family and friends cheered on the student-athletes. Click the photo to see more images from the event.

Hundreds of middle school students gathered at Williams Stadium on Monday evening for the annual DMPS All-City Middle School Track & Field Meet.
