About Me

This is my 9th year working at Hoyt Middle School.  I choose education because I really like working with students.  It is the look on their faces that fuels the desire to continue to work with students.  I did take a year off from education.  That time away from education allowed me to reflect on the important things that caused me to pursue a career in education.

About Me:

After teaching middle school and high school English/Language Arts, as well as coaching cheerleading and track, I began my career as an administrator in Des Moines at North High School. While being a part of the Polar Bear family for four years was immensely rewarding, I am thrilled to be back at the middle school level as a Hoyt Hawk! I enjoy working in middle school education because adolescent students need adult advocates to provide guidance, support, and encouragement. They need adults who are dedicated to providing a variety of ways for all students to learn and to be successful.

I first began my teaching career at Hoyt Middle school. This made returning 23 years later even more special!  I currently have many children of former students, which I enjoy immensely! I enjoy working with middle school students to help them overcome the challenges adolescents face during this transitional time. It is important to me that all students are not only successful academically, but socially and emotionally as well. In order for this to happen we must do all that we can to ensure your child is successful and best prepared for the next level of learning. Together we can work in partnership to accomplish this!
